On the road from  the garden of paradies culture is running its dead straight seed stock on the into the patterned beds of nature.The linearity of this landscape of knowledge proceeds to marginalize nature´s luxuriant rank growth to a point that it is threatend to become invisible. To rediscover the mass of untouched nature and the sign maze of knowledge with equal curiosity would bring us a good step further - back to nature.

On a piece of waste land that is part of the  Botanical Gardens of Leipzig, (overgrown with weeds) I installed a trellis -like construction, consisting of 5x5 white, vertical poles. The ends of the neighbouring poles are tied together with strings. The object visualizes a specific version oft the most important  magic square that originates from the Middle East.
 
 

The numbers of the magic square have been converted into the lengths of  the vertical poles in a way that the length ratios of the individual poles reflect the ratios of the numbers of the magic square.

When Isaac Newton in 1687 "mathematicalized" nature, it had a crucial impact on the the cognitive process of modernisation while at the same time accelerating the loss of magic.
